The chocolate tour and how to get there

Situated a very short distance from Savusavu town, right next to the Daku Resort estate, this huge plantation showcases various cocoa varieties being processed from pods to beans to the final exquisite chocolate. The entire plantation is managed according to sustainable agricultural practices. The cocoa is grown according to ecological principles.

The tour needs to be pre-booked as they operate on alternate days giving the team time on the other days to produce chocolate for the chain of resorts, hotels and other stores that they supply their chocolate to. These tours are informal and can be from 2 to 10 people in a group. If the group is larger, arrangements can be made so long as prior intimation is given. This tour lasts about 1-2 hours and costs FJD 25 only.

The walk through the plantation is easy and not strenuous for any age group. Joeli will give you an entire insight on how chocolate is made right from the pods stage until the end.

Once the pods are opened, the beans undergo a process of drying, fermentation and grinding where each step is designed to enhance and refine the flavor and texture of the final product
