Hirday Daswaney is a risk taker and says it’s an asset in the world of business. But cultural expectations on women in business can sometimes serve as a setback, she said.
Ms Daswaney arrived in Fiji two years ago with her partner Manoj for two things –their love for Fiji and their interest in wanting to set up shop here.
To this day, Ms Daswaney is surprised about the bold decision the duo made to move to Fiji to start all over again from scratch.
The couple established Dynasty Tours & Travels, an IATA accredited agency aimed at increasing inbound tourists to the country.
“We were running a travel agency in Mumbai, India where we lived earlier,” Ms Daswaney said.
The couple wanted to conduct tours to India for people from Fiji after they found most travelers had no idea about how to go about making travel arrangements.
What sets her travel agency aside from other service operators are services such as medical tourism and visas to many countries.
“Limitations to the way business is run include major restrictions from home – the husband and in-laws to work, young children and lack of confidence,” she said.
Ms Daswaney is proud of how business has grown as the company diversify within the travel industry.
“Proud that we are working on bringing in the numbers to Fiji and promoting Fiji tourism,” she said.
